All Nations Church’s Mountain of Mittens Starts at the Wolves Game
Mountain of Mittens 2018

Visit any Maslack Supply store in Greater Sudbury to purchase a warm pair of mittens for children in Greater Sudbury and on Manitoulin Island. Donations to Mountain of Mittens will be accepted until the middle of December.

You can help warm kids’ hands and hearts this holiday season by helping to build Sudbury’s Mountain of Mittens! Founded by coordinator and All Nations Church member Ken Wilson and  sponsored by Maslack Supply, the All Nations Church Mountain of Mittens aims to give kids in Sudbury a helping hand by providing warmth on cold winter days in the form of much-needed mittens.

Maslack Supply is a locally owned family business started by founder John Maslack almost 60 years ago. The Maslack family and the company have supported many community endeavours over the years and they are excited to get behind this initiative founded by All Nations Church.

Seeing as the cold of winter has set in early this year there are a lot of children who need these mittens and toques now. Local schools are not allowing children without mitts or toques to participate in outdoor recesses anymore. Whether there are children who don’t have mitts and toques or children who lost/forgot theirs, schools will be prepared to distribute mitts and toques to whomever needs them so they can go outside and play and keep warm.

The campaign will officially launch during the Wolves hockey game at the Sudbury Arena when the team takes on the Saginaw Spirit on Friday, Nov. 23 at 7 p.m.. The game will be sponsored by Maslack Supply and fans will be able to buy a pair of children’s mittens for only $3 from All Nations Church CORE Youth group members at the game. You can help more kids by purchasing two pairs for $5 and 5 pairs for $10. Curtis Roy, who is part of the Maslack family, hopes that 5,000 pairs of mittens and 1,500 toques will be purchased for all the kids this year.

People who help build the Mountain of Mittens will also have a chance to win some prizes at the game. During the second intermission, a Maslack truck will be driven onto the ice. People will be given a chance to toss the mittens they purchased into the back of the truck. Prizes will be given out to those with the best aim – the more mittens you purchase the more chances you get to win prizes!

If you can’t make the game you can purchase mittens at any Maslack location in Greater Sudbury –

488 Falconbridge Rd., 1010 Lorne St., 2112 Regent St., 3535 Hwy 144 Chelmsford as well as Valley East Auto Parts 2996 Hwy 69 N. Unity 4 in Cal Caron. A special area in each store has been set up for donations. To get directions the different locations and store hours please visit Maslack’s website or their Facebook page.

All Maslack stores will continue to collect donations for mittens until the middle of December. All Nation Church volunteers will distribute mittens to local schools for children in need and with the support of the Mindemoya Missionary Church, to the schools on Manitoulin Island.
