Another Reason to Visit Bell Park: To Read the Bell Park Benches

Bell Park BenchesWe have walked through Bell Park hundreds of times and one day started reading the memorial plaques on the benches that are located along the boardwalk and all through the park. Some of them were donated by service groups but most have been donated by families who donated the bench in memory of family and friends who have passed away or to commemorate a special occasion or just because…

In the album below we took a photo of the view from each bench and inset the memorial plaque into each photo. There are dozens more benches that we didn’t include which gives everyone a great reason to take a walk through Bell Park to read them all.

If you would like to donate a bench or something else to any of the parks in Greater Sudbury there is a way to do so.

Donations can be make through Greater Sudbury’s Parks Services Donation and Memorial Program to commemorate a special person, a momentous occasion or simply donate to help beautify a community park.

Your donation can be made toward the purchase of:

  • Park Benches
  • Trees (hardwoods and conifers)
  • Bike Rack
  • Picnic Tables
  • Sun Shelters
  • Sports Equipment  (basketball standards, tennis nets, soccer goals etc.)
  • Playground Structures
  • And if you have another idea you can talk to Parks Services about them.

Although Bell Park currently has enough benches, Parks Services would be pleased to let you know what other parks need benches and other donations as mentioned above. Depending on what you would like to donate, Parks Services would be happy to outline the cost.

All donations to Parks Services, over $10.00, will receive a tax receipt.

You can find more information about the Parks Services Donation and Memorial Program online here. You can also contact Parks Services by calling 705-674-4455 ext. 4570 or you can email the Manager of Parks Services at pam.cranston at greatersudbury.ca.

The first talking pictures came to the Grand Opera House in 1914.
