The Art Gallery of Sudbury has made art for seniors a very high priority. Since 2005, the Art Gallery of Sudbury has facilitated hands-on workshops, demonstrations, talks and art exhibitions to more than 6,000 seniors from the Greater Sudbury Area.

Painting Memories – Alzheimer’s and Art was a collaboration between local artist Ruth Reid, Cindy Pilkey, Activity Coordinator for the Alzheimer Society Sudbury-Manitoulin North Bay and Districts Day Program, and Nancy Gareh, Curator of Education and Public Programs for the Art Gallery of Sudbury.

“We have learned a lot over the years and we hope that the workshops featured in this book will assist carepartners, families, and professionals of those who have Alzheimer’s disease to use art as a way to see through their thoughts, emotions and memories, allowing art to become their voice,” said Nancy Gareh.
