Scot Lund CEO SWSE

Scott Lund is the newly appointed CEO of SW Sports and Entertainment, parent company of the Sudbury Wolves Hockey Club.

SW Sports and Entertainment, the parent company of the Sudbury Wolves Hockey Club, is pleased to announce that effective June 5th, 2017, Scott Lund will take on the position of CEO. Lund, a veteran of 30 years at BellMedia and CTV Northern Ontario leaves the position of Vice-President and General Manager covering Sudbury, Timmins, North Bay and Sault Ste. Marie.

Lund has strong roots in the Sudbury region and completed a Bachelors degree in Economics at Laurentian University in 1983. His network and experience in the community runs deep. He currently chairs Science North, Cinéfest Sudbury’s

International Film Festival and was the past chair of the Greater Sudbury Development Corporation. He has contributed as a past member of the Health Sciences North board of directors and most recently served as an advisor for the Sudbury Wolves Hockey Club and True North Strong Event Centre Development.

“I am extremely proud and excited for Scott to join our executive management team at the highest level,” said Dario Zulich, owner of SWSE. “Scott brings the experience, energy and passion needed for the further development and execution of the strategy to achieve our vision. His management style is the opposite of mine, therefore complementary. I am more confident than ever that SWSE now has the perfect leadership mix to drive us to the next level of success.”

“This project has the potential to change the entertainment landscape for the entire community and I am excited to get to work, roll up my sleeves with the team and build SWSE into the potential it has,” said Lund. “This is an unparalleled opportunity, something that has never been seen before. We are looking at co-locating an event centre as part of an entertainment district sparking an entire development. It will include the new casino resort, new hotels, convention centre space, restaurants, all-weather field house, motor sports park and the relocated Carmichael Arena, all this while diversifying the economy and strengthening our quality of life.”

Dario Zulich purchased the Sudbury Wolves in late August 2016 and has been the champion for a new Event Centre coined True North Strong first proposed in late November 2015. The City is considering the Kingsway location for the development of an Entertainment district and destination.

City Council will be making a decision to support a new event centre location and project on June 27th, 2017. There are 4 large projects they wish to move forward, 3 of which are slated for a downtown location while the Event Centre replacement to the current Sudbury Arena is a priority.
