Pick Up Your Plants and Supplies at the Sudbury Gardening Festival

Sudbury Gardening Festival

The Sudbury Horticultural Society invites all gardeners in Northeastern Ontario to the 7th annual Sudbury Gardening Festival on Saturday May 27th at the YMCA Centre for Life and Parkside Centre on Durham Street in Sudbury.  Doors open at 9:30 am but the Society’s Spring plant sale will begin at 9:00 am at the front of the YMCA building.

This year’s Festival has been designated a “Canada 150 Garden Experience” and a great way to celebrate our country’s 150th anniversary.

The Festival provides an opportunity for all gardeners to pick up the plants and supplies that they need for their gardens and get advice from gardening experts.  Vendors will be setup outdoors in front of the YMCA building and indoors in the Kinsmen Rooms at the Parkside Centre.

The speakers corner will feature three gardening presentation throughout the day in the Parkside Centre.  At 10:30 am staff from Azilda Greenhouses will share what’s new for 2017.  At noon, Linda Hugli will offer a virtual tour of three outstanding Canadian gardens that she has recently visited. At 1:30 pm a team of Sudbury Master Gardeners will answer your gardening questions in a special “Q & A Session”.

Don’t miss the Horticultural Society’s juried horticultural show where members showcase their gardening and artistic talents each year.

Local not-for-profit environmental organizations will set up displays relating to their newest projects and initiatives in the YMCA hallway near the elevator and stairway.  Learn more about their work and find out how you can support them.

Greater Sudbury’s Regreening Advisory Panel, Vale, and Sudbury Integrated Nickel Operations will once again be distributing free shrub and tree seedlings for planting on your property.  Take advantage of this opportunity to become part of Greater Sudbury’s internationally recognized regreening program.

This FREE event is a great way to kick-off the gardening season each year.  We look forward to seeing you there!
