It’s the End of the World As We Know It: 5 YUGE Songs for USA’s Election Night

With hours to spare in the unfathomably-long U.S.A Election, it seems the entire planet is holding their breath… and plugging their noses. While we’re North of the border, there is no escaping the chaos that has encapsulated the entire planet. From the ugliness of the primaries, to the playground tantrums of the general election, it is safe to say that we will all wake up tomorrow morning with a collective sigh of relief.

We’ve put together a quick group of songs to play tonight as you try and navigate through the endless news coverage of the election results… because at the end of the day, while there may be a new President of the United States, we will sleep tight knowing we don’t have to endure nearly two years of electioneering here in Canada, and that we have Deluxe Chicken on a Bun, Howler, Universal Healthcare, Poutine, sane candidates, etc.

#1: REM – It’s The End Of The World As We Know It

The name is perfect. And the lyrics say “Team by team reporters baffled, trumped, tethered, cropped”, which almost is an amazing futuristic prediction.

#2: The Doors – The End

The title speaks YUGE volumes. The best volumes. We have the best volumes, don’t we folks?

#3 The Smiths – Panic

The £ isn’t doing too well these days. Maybe there’ll be Panic on the streets of London, as Morrissey screams?

#4 Pink Floyd – Run Like Hell

Self-explanatory.

#5: Tragically Hip – Ahead By A Century

We sure seem to be.

The first CKSO radio broadcast was heard over the airwaves at 6 p.m. on August 19, 1935.
